Hey Beautiful!
A few weeks ago, I received notice from Influenster that I would be receiving a VoxBox. I was so excited; the conversation in my head went something like “Really? You want me and my opinion?!”
Not long after, the package arrived and I was pleased to see that it contained makeup. Included were Sleek MakeUP‘s Vintage Romance Eyeshadow Palette, Fierce Felt Liner, and Cleopatra’s Kiss Highlighting Palette . Admittedly, I had not heard of Sleek MakeUP before receiving the VoxBox, but I was more than happy to give it a try. Here’s my review.
The Vintage Romance Eyeshadow Palette contains a mix of purple, magenta, and neutral brown shades so it can be used to create a variety of looks.
I found the eyeshadow swatches to be less than impressive. It may be difficult to notice, but there is a sixth shade on my arm in the Top Row image. Unfortunately, it is essentially the same color as my arm, so I imagined it would be imperceptible on my eyes.
This look was new for me because I ventured into cool-toned shades for the first time. I began by priming my lids with the Wet n Wild…I used the shade numbered 1 for the transition. It is alright if you don’t notice it because I didn’t see it either. As I imagined, it blended too well with my skin tone. I then swiped shade 2 over my lid. I mixed shades 2 and 3 into the outer corner of my eyelid and shades 2 and 4 into the inner corner.
For the most part, I was happy with the color payoff and the shadows wore well. I had them on for about four hours and saw no creasing. I also felt like an ice princess during that time.
I rarely use eyeliner of any kind, but I found Sleek MakeUP’s Fierce Felt Liner to be easy to use. I created a very little wing using it. With practice, I think I could create a bold wing with the liner.
There are two formula’s in the Cleopatra’s Kiss Highlighting Palette. The top right and bottom left are cream highlighters while the top left and bottom right are baked highlighters.
I chose to use the top left baked highlighter. It appears warm brown in the pan so I thought it would compliment my skin tone nicely. I was not going for glam with this look, so I lightly dusted the highlighter over my cheekbone. It still packed a punch and reflected nicely when hit by light.
So what’s the final verdict? Would I have purchased any of these products had they not been given to me? The Vintage Romance Eyeshadow Palette has a beautiful color story, but I’m not attracted to these shades. Cleopatra’s Kiss Highlighting Palette is pretty, but I rarely wear highlighter. I would, however, be glad to have the Fierce Felt Liner in my collection.
What are your thoughts? Have you used any products from Sleek MakeUP? Let me know in the comments below!
For the sake of transparency, I received these products complimentary from Influenster for testing purposes.
